Redfoxpress presents a unique original scrapbook from The Sticker Dude, New York.The Sticker Dude, Joel S. Cohen, collects artwork, aphorisms, puns the visual and verbal symbols, aesthetic moods and graphic social commentaries that surround us.
After stripping these appropriations of their contexts, he achieves a personal resonance by recombining, adding and refiguring. He then, as a professional printer, reproduces the works in quantity, in a readily accessible media, and distributes them as freely and as personally as possible.
Over the years, Joel’s body of work has become surreal, graphically irreverent and even
grotesque, prodding the viewers to reconsider what they believe they have known about the world. Socially, these pictures present a narrative that eschews visual elitism. They are intended to be read and enjoyed for their graphic wit. Still, we are challenged to share in these attempts to shake off the literal, common and manipulative iconography that surrounds us, and to embrace -with this work- new meanings with fresh eyes.
