The third Venice / La terza Venezia
Trolley Books presents The third Venice / La terza Venezia. In these photographs, Silvia Camporesi explores the city of Venice through the filter of her imagination and dreams. Churches drown into water, the Grand Canal is surrounded and transformed by the fog, and legends appear suddenly in the photographs. This Venice is neither real nor unreal, it is rather a surreal ʻthirdʼ place, however one that we clearly recognise.
Silvia Camporesi was born 1973 in Forlì, Italy, where she continues to live and work. Having graduated in philosophy at the University of Bologna she moved into Fine Art and is today one of the most appreciated and successful Italian artists working with photography and video. She has exhibited in various galleries and public spaces both in Italy and abroad, and in 2011 ‘The Third Venice’ was exhibited at Photographica Fine Art Gallery, Lugano. She is also a teacher of photography and visual media.
